Canine Good Citizen Training
What is a Canine Good Citizen, and why should you want your dog to be one?
Several states, Florida being the first, have passed resolutions endorsing the Canine Good Citizen program as a means of teaching responsible pet ownership, and as a means of teaching dogs Canine Good Citizen behaviors for the community. It is the only AKC-sponsored activity that includes mixed breeds.
A Canine Good Citizen is a dog that is well behaved around people and other dogs, at home and in public. It is the kind of dog that you want to own, one that is safe with children and one that you would welcome as a neighbor. It is a dog that is a pleasure to own, and a nuisance to no one.
Responsible dog owners recognize that their dog's behavior is a reflection of their commitment to create a positive image of dogs in general.
The Canine Good Citizen is the best way to counteract anti-dog sentiment.
CANINE GOOD CITIZEN IS NOW A TITLE!
Beginning in January 2013, CGC is a title that can be listed on your dog’s
record provided the dog has passed the CGC test and has an AKC number (of one of
the 3 types above).
Owners may choose to pay $8.00 for the CGC certificate only, or the $20 title
fee for having CGC listed as a title on the dog’s record.
For more information on taking the CGC test and earning the CGC title, see:

All dogs are required to verify shot records from their veterinarian prior to attending class. All dogs must be on a dewormer, and worm free. When you fill out and send the form below, I will send you the necessary papers and information which will be required for attending any classes at Wiggle Butt's Academy. If your dog is ill, or contracts worms, DO NOT bring your dog to class. Please inform us and we will reschedule you for another time.

If you or your dog are struggling with any of the above behaviors, please don't hesitate to contact me and I will help you through it.
I do not give the Canine Good Citizen test. However, when you finish with the Canine Good Citizen lessons, I will help you locate a tester in the area for you and your dog to take the exam. Most testers charge anywhere from $10 to $20 for the exam. Once you pass the test, you will send the results to the American Kennel Club for your certificate. You will then need to decide which foundation to become affiliated with such as Therapy Dog's Incorporated.
Please fill out the form below if you would like more
information or to set up and appointment. Or call 904.572.9156 from 9 am - 7 pm. Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Closed Wednesday's and Thursday's.
Please make sure that you choose a schedule that is most convenient for you, and one that you think you will most likely be
able to attend ALL of the lessons. It is very important that you work with consistency with your dog, and work each day on all of the homework assignments I send home with you each week. Failure to do so may result in a poorly trained dog, and may cause your dog to not be able to pass the Canine Good Citizen test. If you are unable to attend a lesson, please give me 24 hours notice. I will be happy to reschedule you for another day. However, I do encourage you to make every attempt to keep your scheduled lessons, as rescheduling may not be as convenient for you as the originally scheduled day and time. There is a lot to learn here, and I want you and your dog to succeed and pass the Canine Good Citizen test the FIRST time. Wiggle Butt's Academy does not grant refunds.
